Dutch Caramel Apple Pie

Dutch Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients:

10 cups of Apple
1/2 cup of Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Optional:  Caramel bits and/or chopped Cashews

1 cup of Flour
3/4 cup of Sugar (I know two sugars.. I'll explain below)
1/2 Stick of soften Margarine
Pie Shell (Deep dish)

Directions:

Preheat the Oven to 400 degrees, (at this time I usually pull out the pie crust and the stick of margarine so it softens. FYI I keep my crust in the freezer until I use it)

Core, cut the apples.  I generally use a core slicer and from there take the peel off. It is easier for me.

Mix the apples with the 1/2 cup of sugar and the cinnamon.  I would gradually add the cinnamon and the sugar.  If you going to use caramel bits and/or cashews you can add it now.  (I am sure there is a variety of things you can add besides cashews or caramel)  Pour in the pie crust.

With your hands mix 1 cup of Flour, 3/4 cup of sugar and 1/2 stick of margarine until crumbly. Then put on top of the apple filling and pat it lightly.

Since the juices tend to seep out of the pie, I HIGHLY recommend putting something to cover the cookie sheet with. Much easier to clean up and also once the crust gets golden brown, I will cover the crust to protect it from burning.

ENJOY!!!

Selina's Room

Happy Sunday!!!

Remember last post, you just saw snap shots. Its your lucky day, you get to see the entire room now!!!

It has only been 5 weeks since Selina has made her big arrival into the world, but I already have Mom must haves.

1. Glider ( I have the ottoman, I think it is a nice plus but it is optional)
2. Vtech Video Digital Monitor ( Due to my severe/profound hearing loss, this is my LIFELINE, at first I was disappointed in it, but it was due to the lack of directions. Once we figured it out, it has been amazing!)
3. Graco Pack N Play with the newborn napper (I love this, we use ours as a changing station. And there is an option to allow your newborn to sleep in two different areas of the Pack N Play. Who knows if your newborn is gonna sleep in the crib right away. Also, you can hold it in your bedroom if you like your child to be in there for a while and then you can move it back into her or his room.. SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS.

My number one must have.. glider with an ottoman. This Glider has two pockets one on each side. Perfect for little notebook, tablet, pens, and of course Water jugs. I know I am constantly thirsty when I am nursing.

The Pack N Play!!!

Selina's dresser with The Land of Craft Wreath above. If you haven't read my post about Land of Craft.. You better get to it. You can always come back and finish reading.

Isn't it amazing. It just brings in a little simple and wonderful to the room!! I love it!!!!

Bought this cute little basket from Target, Suppose to be a diaper caddy, but since the side of the Pack N Play has a place to hold diapers wipes and such. I am using this to hold things that I need while changing her clothes and such. Lotion, there is a brush, pacifier clip, headbands and of course LOTS AND LOTS OF spit rags. Sadly for my husband, he seems to always get the other end of the spit ups..  (hahaha)  Always got to have them on hand and easy to get to.

My amazing friend gave this subway art. Sometimes the best additions to rooms are those made by your talented friends.  Of course I already had a frame lying around waiting to be used.

The vinyl on the wall I purchased from Target.  If I remember correctly I spend less than 30 dollars.
The basket on the floor was purchased from Home Goods for 14.99, and it is serving as Selina's dirty clothes Hamper.

The crib!!!

LOVE THIS RUG!!! Bought it from Target. It was on sale and I used my Target Cartwheel which applied 15% additional off

My LIFE LINE!!! This is one of two cameras I have.  From the camera itself you can play music. :) And of course you can talk to your child through the monitor and camera.
This is the monitor. Lots of different options.

The quilt that started it all!!!! What an inspiration it served for me. Can't wait for Selina to be able to use it on her toddler bed. Yes, I bought a quilt so it can last many years rather than months.   I bought this from Etsy.

A matching minky blanket!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!!

Inspiration for Selina's Room

Hey readers!!!!

How long did it take for you to come up with a theme for your child's room??  I believe I was almost 6 mos along when it finally hit me.  I didn't want her room to be very babyish...  Is that such thing.. I guess what I am trying to think is not traditional baby girl room with just pink or just purple in her room.  Now looking at her room, yes there is some "baby" elements that decorate her room, but the big things are more of a modern taste.

As I was searching Etsy for a quilt that will be the source of inspiration for her room. I wanted her to have a room that has multiple colors in it and that she can use when she gets older. But my budget wasn't exactly large either.  I finally found THE QUILT. And I had to have it, right then in there. And it finally set the motion for how her room is decorated now.  I love it and can't wait to show you each and every detail of her room.

Here are some snapshots of certain elements in her room, I will do another posting on Sunday about each snapshot you see and explain details of where I found them. (Sorry I am not 100% ready to show you the entire room)

Sorry to leave you hanging. Let your imagination run wild.

What was your inspiration for your child(ren)'s room??

Chicken Pot Pie

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT

 Patty's Day!!!

One of my husband;s favorite dinner I make is Chicken Pot Pie. I promise it isn't as hard as it seems.

Ingredients:
1 box of refrigerated pie crust (I use the deep dish, and I pull it out about 30 mins prior to cooking)
1/3 cup of butter
1/3 cup of chopped up onion
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. pepper ( I love pepper so I always add a tad more)
1 can of Chicken broth
1/2 cup of milk
2 1/2 cups of shredded cooked chicken (or you can do this with turkey)
2 cups of Steamer frozen Mixed vegetables, thawed.

Heat the oven to 425 degrees

(Just missing the flour.. oops)

In a 2-quart sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add Onion; Cook 2 minutes, stiring frequently, until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until well blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk, cooking and stirring until bubbly and thickened.

Stir in chicken and mixed vegetables ( I used steamfresh bag of veggies, which come out to be less than 2 cups of veggies).

Remove from heat. Spoon into a crusted-lined pie plate ( I use the deep dish crusted-lined pie plate)

For the top crust I use Bisquick about 2/3 of milk and 1 cup of Bisquick and mix it with a fork. And then I slowly pour on top of the mixture.

OPTION 2:  Or when buying the pie crust you can buy it with the second crust and use it is for the top; Seal edge and flute. Cut slits in several places in top crust.

Bake at 425 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. During the last 15-20 mins of baking, cover edge of crust with strips of foil to prevent excessive browning. (I have the pie on a cookie sheet, but between the cookie sheet and pie I will put foil between them so when it is time to cover the crust. I just bend the foil up and over the crust. In my eyes soo much easier than using strips of foil. And just in case the Bisquick seeps over the pie. Your cookie sheet is still clean.)  Let the pot pie stand for five minutes before serving.

Honest Co.

Before I start this blog, I am sharing mine opinion and nobody else. I am in no way being paid or benefiting from sharing my opinion good or bad about Honest Co. And I have not been contacted by any representatives or employees of Honest Co.

One of the biggest decisions new parents or soon to be new parents need to decide, what diapers are gonna be used.  Cloth or disposable.  Once you done that.. what company should be used and from there. if you are doing disposable what kind of diapers.. like dry, swaddlers and so on..

Thankfully there is lots of opportunities for free samples and Honest Co. is one of them.  No, they are not cloth diapers. And I give a round of applause to those families that can do cloth diapers. I just can't.  The whole washing poop filled diapers in the same washing machine as I wash my clothes, sheets and stuff, just creep me out. Honest Co. are disposable diapers, that free from harmful chemicals and is better for the environment and your child's bum (in my eyes) than other disposable diapers like Pampers, Huggies and etc.  They have three possible samples and if you really wanted to you can get all of them.  Just have to pay for shipping.  One is a diaper trial, Essential Trial and Health and Wellness trial. I sadly didn't find out about the trails until a month prior to my due date.  I only did the trial for diapers and Essential. Man.. Did I LOVE THEM!!!!!

The diapers were cute as heck. and the healing cream (aka diaper rash cream) AMAZING!!!!!  And the best part of it all.   Free of harmful chemicals!!!  And everything they claim.. is TRUE.. It is super absorbent, but the moisture is pulled away form the skin of the child. So even if Selina urinated a lot, her skin is NEVER dripping wet like other diapers. I noticed after I used up all the Pamper Swaddlers, Selina's butt was starting to get red, I was getting nervous that she was gonna have her first diaper rash. A milestone I SOOO didn't want. I am sure every parent feels that way. So I started her up on some healing cream.. My oh My... redness disappeared in days.  Once I started her on honest diapers I haven't used  healing cream since.

Also, what makes these diapers soo ADORABLE.. you can choose up to six designs for newborn and size 1 diapers. I only chose 3, so I got two packages of each design in total of 8 packages with 40 diapers in each.   320 diapers, and I dont think mine will be all used by the time the next shipment comes in. So I might have to adjust when the next ones come in due to be having enough supply.  And they add designs as they go along, and you change designs before your shipment has started the process of packing the shipment.

TOLD YOU SOO.. SOO CUTE!!!

The small packages are the travel packages, you will get four with your diaper bundle.  The large package is the normal size of wipe, that you will receive with your normal diaper bundle.  They are very soft and will not cause friction to your child's bum. I currently get the Essential bundle every 6 weeks and I get the diapers every 4-5 weeks. And you can adjust your shipping days.  They make it really easy for you.

If you are interested in Honest Co. please go to the site and read up about Honest Company; Also in the comment box put your email down. I will be able to send you a referral email. Which is offered to every customer and encouraged.  Once you start ordering you can send your own referral emails to your friends and families. Please comment if you have any questions at all, and I will try to answer them based on by experience.

Selina Claire

SELINA CLAIRE HAS MADE HER APPEARANCE ON VALENTINE'S DAY DURING A HUGE SNOW STORM THAT OCCUR ON THE EAST COAST.. WE RECEIVED ABOUT 24 INCHES OF SNOW THAT NIGHT.. AND SHE OF COURSE WASN'T GONNA WAIT VERY LONG. I LABORED ONLY 1.5 HRS AT HOME AND SHE WAS BORN JUST SHORT OF 6 HRS AFTER I WAS ADMITTED.  Please be patience with me. I know  I promised more activity on this page and there will be just trying to get things back in order at home and trying to get used to my schedule. I will be posting things about baby and kid topics but my goal is to not overwhelm my blog with just those topics.

Saria loves her already

Lots of love coming from the furry one.
